Default Power sliding/back doors don't work after new battery

After installing new battery in my '05, things went wonky: at first the driver's auto down window function stopped working; the PBD wouldn't open via the remote or the interior switch nor would it power up with the hatch release; and the passenger sliding door wouldn't open automatically with the door handle but does open with the remote and the interior switch. The auto down passenger window mysteriously started working again after several tries but the doors still do not work a month after replacing the battery.

The manual acknowledges the issue after battery being disconnected and states your have to "normalize" the PBD and sliding door by following the directions on pages 28 and 37 in the manual--but there is not one word on those pages about normalizing them.

I checked the fuse for the PBD and it is good; don't see fuse under the hood readily identifying the sliding passenger door.

Does anyone know how to "normalize" these doors to restore automatic operation?

Thanks for any clues you can offer.
