Were trying to decide which of the two cars to get.
Please list specific reasons why you think one of the two is better.

Owned a '98 CR-V for 10 years and 140K miles. One of the best cars I've ever owned. Never broke down and got 30MPG. Regret selling it.
The CR-V is the #1 best selling SUV in the US for a reason.

I know from personal experience that the Honda CR-V is an excellent car. The most recent incarnation is very reliable, safe, and has low maintenance costs, though the brake pedal is a little touchy. The CR-V and Rav4 are comparable, and top of the line models of both cars (fully loaded, nav, biggest engines, 4wd, etc) won't run too much over 30k. I have heard problems about rear visibility in the Rav4, and, having ridden in both cars, prefer the ride in the CR-V. However, that being said, and although Toyota is in some trouble right now, both brands have the reputation for being reliable, so I don't think you could really go wrong either way. Take a test drive and see which you prefer.

You should buy a Honda CR-V because they don't have problems, they are reliable, cheap to maintain.
You should not buy a Toyota RAV-4 because of the recalls that are happening right now, if you don't want to die don't get a RAV-4 or any Toyota until the recalls been passed.

Toyota RAV-4: STICKY GAS PEDALS! WHY WOULD YOU EVEN BUY A CAR WITH BAD GAS PEDALS? So that leaves with the CR-V. Or, other good choices will be the Subaru Forester.
