I saw on a thread that a guy was able to replace some parts to fix the 5th gear slippage issue and so I was wondering if the whole clutch could be replaced going the same route he went, which was by going in through the left (driver's side) fender well. He then loosened the left engine mount to improve access, but indicated that once the cover is removed from the end of the transmission, all the parts that needed replacement were accessible... any help would be appreciated...

The trans has to move back to be able to remove the clutch plate and disc. So the answer is no you can't do what he did. It would be nice if it were that easy.
