My '94 4Runner suddenly stopped allowing me to open the driver's door from the outside. I can lock and unlock it from both the key and inside button. I can also release the latch and open the door from the inside. When I (half) removed the door panel, I found a metal bar (sorta the shape of a double 'L') just dangling from one end. I'm guessing this is the culprit, but can't find a diagram or figure out where it should connect. Help? (P.S. Someone told me that there is a plastic piece inside that breaks sometimes...)

you need a repair manual that's the only thing that will really show a good enough picture of this,i tell you the easiest way to do this ,is remove the passengers side door panel and see how its connected, the drivers side connects the same way, that's what i do when I'm un-sure about the way they go on,good luck with it.
