i have 1985 Toyota cressida that has some electrical/battery problems. my buddy and i installed an after market stereo but the ground plug wasn't working so he stuck it in the cigarette lighter with the ignition off. turned the ignition on and it worked, he turned the ignition off pulled the wire from the lighter then turned the ignition on and stuck the ground back in and blew out the clock and cigarette lighter. now my "battery", "light", and "charge" lights are on and somethings draining my battery or somethng's wrong with my alternator please help. how can i fix thi? need more detail just ask me.
stereo still worked after that but now battery gets drained. how can i find out whats draining it?

Cig lighter outlet is NOT a ground it is a hot lead. You blew the diodes in the alternator for one and probably more. But first have your alternator tested at a Kragen or Auto Zone as they will do for free. Hopefully you will be lucky and this will all you fried.

WELL u put 12 Volts {hot} 2 a ground - through stereo- your going 2 need more than a stereo now. IT should have smoked it all. Unless u just blew the fuses.
