I like to buy the Toyota Matrix or Pontiac Vibe (same cars), and probably once in a week, I would pull a small trailer (for 20 miles) with 1500 lb on it as total.
How many lb it can tow according to the manual book ?
Only owners please - answers from car dealers and online are not 100% correct.
Thank you

I would think it could handle 1500 lbs for 20 miles,I wouldn't go more than that and I would drive slow. From eveything I have seen the towing capacity is 1500 lbs.

I dont mean to rain on your parade here
Neither of these vehicles should be used.
For these reasons
1 Both of these vehicles weigh approx 3000 lbs. A 1500 lb trailer will bring the GVW to 4500 lbs and the brakes are not equipped for that.
2 Both of these vehicle use unibody construction, a typical 1500 lb trailer has a tongue weight of about 150 - 200 lbs. You will have multiple alignment problems attempting to trailer this long term.
3 The wheel base on both of these vehicles is very short and that equates very dangerous brake performance with 50% of the cars weight being towed.

It can tow 3/4 its own weight safely
