get..better alternatives? I had my 2000 Toyota Corolla broke down in middle of Highway ..Took it to Toyota Dealer..said engine broke down...Costs around $5000 for a manufactured engine..Car itself around $4000. ...WHat is the best way to handle the situation..Can I get the engine replaced for a lesser price. ...Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. ...Thanks in Advance...

get a second opinion (out of the dealer)
dealer is always the most expensive.
get the car to ,the general mechanic shop ,do not mention the engine is broken.
ask for written estimate or quote
junk yard will pay You $150.00 dollars for Your car.(I am not kidding You)

junk yard special but you don't know what kinda shape it will be worth. also atleast with new you know it has a warrenty to it and no one else has used it. if you still don't like it just trade it in a newer car on the lot.
