I am looking to purchase a 2000 Toyota Camry LE with 69,000 miles from a dealer. The vehicle is automatic, 4-cyl, 1 previous owner, AC, power steering, power windows/doors, Cruise control, AM/FM stereo, Cassette, Single CD, Dual front air bags, power seats, and a sun roof.

The dealership is selling the vehicle for $10,500. When I inquired about the vehicle the dealer said the lowest price he could sell me the car was $9,800. However the Kelly Blue Book value is $9,055, and the NADA value is $8,975. Where should I start negotiating the price, and how much should expect to pay for this vehicle? Or what is the most I should offer to pay for it?

Car dealerships dont even go with NADA or KBB...they dont care what that says...really when they go with those prices they are still making a killing..they go with another book that i cannot think of the name...im guessing they got that car in an auction or trade in for NO MORE THEN 4k. I'm not exaggerating. So start at 7K. They will always make more money out of a used then ever with a new car. You will regret paying ANYTHING more then 8k for that car trust me. Its a great car but not worth 10k

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

BTW you ONLY have about 30k miles til your at 100K which will drastically lose value...so you dont want to pay what kbb or NADA...take that SAME car on those KBB or NADA and put about 101,000 miles and see what it says is worth....thats how much neg. equity you will have in two years or less

go in and tell them you will pay 8500,00 no more no less.if they say no start to walk and watch who drives out with a new toyota.dealers are really trying to get rid of stock and will take about anything to get rid of it.be firm.dont give them an inch,if you do they will try to charge more because they think they can get it.

I have the newest KBB book, and I get $8900 retail. As it is a reliable vehicle that gets good MPG, I am not surprised they have marked it up. I would not go above $8000 myself. I would be surprised if they paid much over $6500 for it.

It's suggested that you start your negotiations at the KBB private party value.
