Introduction:
Hello all. I am an owner of 2 1993 Toy PU's - at 2x4 reg cab std. 22re, no AC and a 4x4 ext. Cab dlx v6 std, man hubs and has AC.
My 2x4 has never been to a shop (I had done all the maintenance work (still on original timing belt and clutch)), it does and has always run like a top and currently has 183k on the clock.
My 4x4 has been a good truck, but has had it's issues, replaced the Rad (myself), trans failure (lost 1st 3rd and 5th) at 98k - had it rebuilt - no special issue trans shop said nothing wrong all parts in spec, but replaced some parts and it the truck now has 191k on the clock. Tranny has never workd well in this truck always grinds downshifting and when placed in reverse - but nothind too bad I had the front stabilizing replaced under recall at ~175K last year - the dealer boys did this work and damaged the tie rods (the threaded turnbuckles parts) when doing this work (bummer for me huh?).
Any how I joined this forum today to ask a question: So..
My 4x4 started pissing fluid last week in my driveway - it had been sitting for a couple of weeks and one day it starts leaking. it appears to be brake fluid, bu my brake res, is full, the PS res is fiull, the engine oil is full (it is not engine oil or trans fluid that is leaking IMO - it is a light yellow clear/clean fluid). It originates from somewhere on the upper left (i.e., driver side) of the engine and the slow drip is now a steady drip (it lost almost a pint this week with no use (did not start or drive). I am catching the fluid in a oil drain pan.
Any thoughts on the fluid? clutch? isn't that hooked to the brake fluid?
I just pulled all my sticks and none show a loss (but I did not start the truck)
TIA.
Edit: I'll add that I bought both trucks new one in late 1992 and the other in 1993.
I am amazed that the AC in the 4x4 still works as good today as it did when the truck was new. :)
