My check engine light decided to come on to brighten my day a little...

I went to AutoZone and got the code P0446 = EVAP Emission Control System Vent Circuit Malfunction...again. My car is a 2001 Toyota Camry LE with the 2.2L in-line 4 with 52,000 miles on it.

I have only two solutions left. One is to take it to the dealership and pinpoint the problem ($98 for diagnosis fee). The second is to place a sticker over the check engine light (50 cents)

I have spent months researching the problem. I have replaced the gas cap and fill the tank with 89 octane. Here's my question, is charcoal canister full of gas if I pull off one of the hole to check the valves and have anyone have a similar problem? What is the most common problem for a P0446?

forget the dealer. his solution is to repalce everything and charge you for it--afterall ,, what the hel do you know??
Theres really just a switch to open the cannister to the intake air and a thingy that lets in air to prevent a vacuum in the circuit. I dont think it is a problem to get out of shape about.
As long as the car runs gooood is all that matters.
