I took my car in for new tires and an oil change. I asked them to look at everything to make sure I had no problems - mainly because the warranty is about to run out. They suggested I get all the filters changed and some other things for a package deal of $300. When I picked up the car they informed me that their machine to do the power steering flush broke. I'm suppose to go back this week if the machine gets fixed. The cost for this is $109. Is this flush really necessary? A friend of mine said it was a waste of money. I am not having any problems but I do want to make sure I keep the car in good condition so that I don't have problems later on. I know NOTHING about vehicles.
2005 is a late model. also its a toyota. no need. research more on "flushing" a lot say its really bad for the parts. a car works well with fluids moving smoothly and slowly. a flush... FLUSHES it. i heard they use a high pressure spray to push everything out-thats not what your car parts were built for. tip.. next time tell us how many miles are on it. good luck. stick with changing oil and not driving so hard. keep air filter clean and replace differential fluid maybe at 50 or 75k. maybe even 100k. (if you dont tow or haul a lot)
There is no need for that, they are just trying to make extra money, most cars will run ten years or more without having to mess with the power steering system

there is no reason to flush power steering fluid unless something contaminated the reservoir do nothing except check fluid to make sure it is full
