The truck has about 195K on it, we drove it from ME to WA and it was fine when we got here, then we ran into some problems. Recently when I put it in drive and I apply power and the engine revs up and finally gives a lurch and you hear a klunk, klunk and a violent shake as I think it goes into gear, and after about 4seconds it drives fine.

You have a few problems: 1. Check your transmission fluid and check to see if it's low. 2. Either that or you have problems with your bands they help your transmission shift. Either that or take it to a mechanic to look more into it. But check the simple things then go look more in depth. Hope this helps.
