I am looking at a 2001 toyota highlander. What is your opinion of this vehicle? Any things to look out for? The owner says the engine was replaced does this mean there could be other things wrong with it?

Toyota, excellent cars, very dependable. The Highlander is an excellent car, great choice, since the engine was replaced it's a red flag, which means there could be something wrong with it, other then that an excellent car, I say go for it !

They call that a red flag. The trans could be bad, lord knows. If it has a tow package on it, it may have pulled a house or boat trailer. Check it out. Take it to a mechanic. If things seem fine, then maybe. If it is 4 wheel drive, I wouldn't pay more than a few thousand for it. Good Luck!

Just like any car, if you can take it to a mechanic to check it, would be good. I seriously doubt that the Highlander is a red flag. (any year) I don't think there are too much people towing with it either, although it's perfectly capable.

toyota makes good stuff. the motor being replaced does not mean there is any thing else wrong with it. it could mean they didnt change the oil or something like that. honestly tho i would keep looking. newer cars that have had engine swaps are usually trouble
