I just found out it might cost 1500 to have my transmission rebuilt. I have thought about going through it and putting all new. Depends on the cost. Can you help me, I can't seem to find the right site that would give me a price.

A "new" transmission is going to be expensive no matter where you find it. You might try a salvage yard. They are relatively inexpensive and will usually provide some type of warranty with their product. If your trans is a manual version, you may just need to replace the clutch and bearing, which should cost $150.00 to $250.00 for the parts. I hope that helps.

I recommend http://www.jasperengines.com new remanufactured transmissions that have the same warranty as dealer transmissions 75,000 miles and 3 years. However, they may not have your transmission but you can check on their website and find out. As you know, a "rebuilt" transmission is not a new remanufactured transmission as you buy from Ford, GM and Chrysler for example. However, a remanufactured transmission will cost about $3000 installed.

Call a Toyota dealer parts department. They can be really pricy though... What is wrong with having one rebuilt? Most places will give you a lifetime warranty on their work. Which says a lot for the shop!
